I've been experiencing a lot of scalp discomfort. A burning/pulling sensation. I've noticed a direct correlation that when my sinusistis/allergies get really aggravated, that my scalp burns that much more & feels extremely sensitive, sometimes painful. At times I wonder if the discomfort, which seems to be triggered by my sinusitis is exaggerated because I am "wearing hair" and/ or that I am just super sensitive to what goes on, on the top of my head! Does anyone else experience this sensation and or see this correlation of the two?

I have AU - I felt that exact sensation you describe as I was shedding my hair. And yes - it did seem to get worse when my allergies flared. I used to soak a washcloth in ice cold water and apply it to my head. Ice cubes helped too. And any sort of ant-itching oral medication (Benadryl for example).

My head itches now but I don't get that pain anymore. Do you have AU or AA/AT?
I have diffuse alopecia areata but I think I've worsened my condistion by wearing hair with the traction and pulling, tape etc. I think that too adds to the burning and painful sensation. It's so depressing for me but I try to stay postivie and not have it consume me. (Though it oftens does). Thank you, Tuesday for your suggestions, and comments. I will try the benodryl. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I have diffuse alopecia, and my head use to burn like crazy. It's not as bad as before, but yes, I do notice it flare up when I have a sneezing attack or if I'm really tired.
i have cicatricial scarring alopocia in the active phase and a chronic sinus congestion lately as well. I've been wondering if there is a connection as well
