I am participating in a clinical trial in a few weeks. The medication is called Baricitinib and is used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. The results seem overall promising. Has anyone took part in such trials? Or can anyone give me their input on it/ know if it's effective ? Looking for personal experience or knowledge of the medication.

Hi Everyone -

Just want to make sure you're all aware that there is a new study with the JAK-1 (Xeljanz) happening. They are testing it in topical form (yay!).

There was a trial site in my hood, so I went and talked to them. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for the study due to a history of cancer, but the dermatologist said people on the trial are "growing hair like crazy" from it! This is GREAT NEWS for us. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for the study due to a history of cancer, but the dermatologist said people on the trial are "growing hair like crazy" from it! This is GREAT NEWS for us. In a couple years, I truly believe this product will go to market and we will essentially have somewhat of a cure.

Attaching some info I got from NAAF about it and here is the website:

Hi, it's Valeri,(Xeljanzmiracle). After reading over 1000 replies on ADML's post, the main concern for those wanting to try Xeljanz seems to be the cost. ($2000-$3000 a MONTH. This is why I'm adding this post. REGARDLESS OF YOUR INCOME, call Xelsource (Pfizer's support program) for Xeljanz. You might qualify to get the drug FREE or at a HUGE DISCOUNT even if you make up to $90,000 a year! There are also co-pay cards for Xeljanz you can download on the internet REGARDLESS OF YOUR INSURANCE…

Let's face it, this drug is SO expensive that after all of our monthly expenses MOST OF US can't afford it without some help. I qualified to get it for free because of my super low income, but don't automatically rule yourself out. Just CALL and request the forms to enroll in their Xelsource Program.
Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.
